Heart Valve Disease Care, Research and Education at the Institut Alain Cribier
Heart valve disease is at the center of the Institut Alain Cribier’s mission: supporting patients from diagnosis to treatment, while advancing research, education, innovation, prevention and earlier screening.
A Public Health Priority
Heart valve disease: common conditions that are still too often diagnosed late.
Symptoms are often subtle or overlooked
Diagnosis is still not systematic enough
Without proper care, these conditions can become life-threatening
A comprehensive, coordinated, and innovative approach is needed
13 million people in Europe are affected by heart valve disease. Its prevalence is rising rapidly as the population ages, reaching levels comparable to Alzheimer’s disease.
Yet these conditions are still frequently diagnosed too late, exposing patients to serious, sometimes fatal complications, even though effective treatments are available.
Four Ways We Improve Heart Valve Health
CARE
Expert, compassionate care for heart valve disease, with support focused on quality of life.
RESEARCH
Accelerating innovation through translational research, high-impact programs, and MedTech collaborations that improve care and outcomes.
EDUCATION
Training tomorrow’s experts through MTC Rouen, masterclasses, and mobility programs that help spread best practices worldwide.
AWARENESS
Informing the public, promoting prevention, and encouraging earlier screening through outreach campaigns, senior-focused initiatives, and practical resources.
Four complementary pillars serving one shared goal: sustainably improving cardiovascular health by placing patients at the center of everything we do.
The Next Heart Revolution (2026–2029)
Supporting the Institut Alain Cribier means directly contributing to better care, breakthrough medical innovation, and the training of future leaders.
Beyond financial donations, support can take many forms: philanthropy, innovation partnerships, scientific collaborations, or technology partnerships. Every contribution helps advance care for heart valve disease and expand the Institute’s impact in France and around the world.

Professor Alain Cribier profoundly shaped the history of modern cardiology.
As the inventor of TAVI, he opened a new path in the treatment of heart valve disease, transforming care for millions of patients worldwide.
The Alain Cribier Institute was born from his scientific, medical, and human legacy. His standards, vision, and commitment continue to inspire the teams working at the Institute today.
NEWS & EVENTS
On April 16, the heart of Rouen beat to the rhythm of prevention. On the forecourt of the Cathedral, the Alain Cribier Institute, together with Rouen University Hospital and Alliance du Cœur, transformed a complex public health issue into a unique human and educational experience.
A look back at a record-breaking day that reflects the very purpose of our Institute: medical excellence for all.
Professor Alain Cribier (1945–2024) is universally recognized as one of the greatest innovators in modern cardiology. His name is inseparable from a major medical revolution: the development of percutaneous treatment for heart valve disease, and in particular transcatheter aortic valve implantation, known as TAVI.
The Alain Cribier Institute was born from an exceptional medical history, but also from a shared determination to structure and extend a unique legacy in the field of heart valve disease.
